welcome to portal
A gallery? A Playground? A thought provoking journey? A celebration of the finest artists in Charlotte? A place to suspend reality and immerse yourself in mind transporting art?…….Yes
The founders of portal share a combined 60 years in bringing premiere entertainment to Charlotte. In the summer of 2018 they decided to create a new concept that celebrates the best Charlotte artists. The only rule is that there are no rules. Find the best, let their imaginations run to their furthest limits, and get out of the way. Whether it’s a curiosity of what art can be, an unforgettable party or special event or a powerful meeting space. The result is Portal and we are happy to share this experience with you.

The first of three elements of her installation is having you stand under an alter opposite yourself in a mirror with a bespoke sign hanging overhead reading, "Would You Marry You?". On wooden, hand-painted stars and hearts hanging beside the alter you are given some options including "ABSO friggin' LUTELY" and "Uhm... no."
The second is an engagement ring with the words "I said yes!" and "I'm Engaged!" written on either side of the large diamond set atop the golden porthole ring. It subconsciously asks the question if one's intention is to rather get engaged instead of being more engaged.
And the third element of her installation is "You Light Up My Life" with a wall of lights you can play with and take beautiful photos to send the person who... lights up your life.
"The opening of the immersive art experience of Portal in Uptown Charlotte will be an incredible impact to our Charlotte art community. Families, friends and individuals will have the opportunity to immerse themselves and get lost in the most inspiring of ways at Portal.
Including local artists of the Charlotte community is sure to make this a tremendous success for many years to come.
On behalf of me and ArtPop Street Gallery we can’t wait for Portal to open. If you have not experienced venues like this in other cities, prepare to be amazed!"
